Definition: A test that measures the electrical activity of the brain, which indicates how well brain cells communicate with one another. Electrodes placed on the scalp monitor the electrical signals, which are recorded as patterns of waves. An electroencephalogram can be used to diagnose seizures, epilepsy, brain diseases, head injuries, and other conditions.
