Definition: Glaucoma is an eye disorder that results from the buildup of fluid in the eye. The resulting increased eye pressure can damage the optic nerve so that signals are no longer able to pass from the eye to the brain. When the eye and brain connection is lost, vision loss occurs over time. Treatment for glaucoma may include eye drops and surgery.
