Definition: Hypoglycemia refers to having low blood sugar, or glucose. Glucose is used to provide energy to the body. When glucose levels are low, one may have hunger, dizziness, and feel weak. Eating or drinking a carbohydrate can help to increase glucose levels and improve symptoms. Hypoglycemia may have many different causes, such as diabetes, medicines, tumors, or enzyme or hormone disorders.
