Telangiectasia macularis eruptive perstans

Other Names:
Telangiectasia macularis eruptiva perstans; Paucicellular mastocytosis; Telangiectatic cutaneous mastocytosis
This disease is grouped under:

Telangiectasia macularis eruptive perstans (TMEP) is a very rare skin disease.  Some researchers consider it a rare subtype of cutaneous mastocytosis. The lesions of TMEP typically appear as small, irregular red spots and brown widened blood vessels on the skin (telangiectasia) mostly located on the trunk, legs, and arms in a symmetrical pattern. The palms, soles and face are spared in most cases. In most cases, the lesions are not itchy and do not form blisters. Rarely, there are other symptoms in other parts of the body.  Diagnosis is usually based on the features, and confirmed by a skin biopsy.[1][2] Treatment includes medication such as antihistamines and cromoglycates.[1]

This table lists symptoms that people with this disease may have. For most diseases, symptoms will vary from person to person. People with the same disease may not have all the symptoms listed. This information comes from a database called the Human Phenotype Ontology (HPO) . The HPO collects information on symptoms that have been described in medical resources. The HPO is updated regularly. Use the HPO ID to access more in-depth information about a symptom.
