Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 affects an estimated 1 in 30,000 to 35,000 people. Among the subtypes of multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2, type 2A is the most common form, making up 70-80% of cases.[1][2]

How is multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2A inherited?

Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2A (MEN 2A) is inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern. A person with MEN 2A often inherits the altered RET gene from one parent with the condition.[1]
