Özlem Ünsal

Özlem Ünsal (born in Kırıkkale, Turkey in 1974) is a German politician (SPD). She is Senator for Mobility, Urban Development and Housing of Bremen.

Özlem Ünsal was born in Kırıkkale, Turkey in 1974 and grew up in the Hanseatic city of Lübeck. She studied political science, sociology and psychology at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel and completed her studies in 2006 with a Magister Artium (M.A.).[1]

Politics

From 2013 to 2017 she was a policy advisor and deputy head of the department for immigration and integration in the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of the Interior.[2]

From 2017, Ünsal represents Kiel as a directly elected representative for Kiel-West in the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament. Its policy areas were domestic and social policy and housing, urban development and civil society.[3]

After the 2023 Bremen state election Andreas Bovenschulte called Ünsal to become Senator for Mobility, Urban Development and Housing in Bremen.
