The Road Safety World Series was founded by Ravi Gaikwad and approved by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.[1][2][3]

New Zealand Legends were the new entrants this edition and they joined the teams from India, England, Sri Lanka, West Indies, South Africa, Australia, and Bangladesh.[4][5] The competition was supported by the Indian Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.[6]

Background

Initially, the second season was supposed to be held jointly in India and the United Arab Emirates in February 2022, but was moved to the UAE and scheduled in March because of a rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in India.[7][8] A number of players, including Sachin Tendulkar, pulled out of the tournament after having not received their payment from the first season;[9] payments were eventually received.[10] The tournament was further postponed a number of times and eventually scheduled for September.[11][12]
