Due to the fact that the National Assembly and the four Provincial Assemblies were dissolved before the presidential election could take place, the election will be conducted after general elections to all five assemblies, which are expected to be held in early 2024.[2] Therefore, the presidential election will also be held sometime in early 2024, as it needs to be held within thirty days of the elections to the assemblies, according to the proviso of Article 41(4) of the Constitution of Pakistan. Moreover, according to the proviso of Article 44(1) of the Constitution of Pakistan, Alvi will continue to hold office until his successor enters upon his office.
