2023 Ukrainian counteroffensive

The 35th Marine Brigade received international headlines for its participation in the 2023 Ukrainian counteroffensive.[4] The unit has formed part of the spearhead on the Velyka Novosilka front alongside the 25th Airborne, the 68th Jaeger brigades, as well as two units of Territorial Defense.[5] The offensive has been described as a Thunder Run (referring to a similar strategy used by US personnel in the 2003 Battle of Baghdad) along the Mokri Yaly river. Using these tactics, the 2,000 man strong brigade punched a hole in Russian lines liberating the village of Makarivka.[6] Later the unit posted photos of its troops raising the Ukrainian flag over, and then posing in front of the municipal building of the village of Storozheve.[7][8][9]

Together with 38th Separate Marine Brigade they liberated a village of Urozhaine on August 16, 2023.[10][11]
