Alexandra Cooper

Alexandra "Alex" Cooper (born August 21, 1994) is an American podcaster who is the co-creator and host of the weekly Call Her Daddy comedy and advice podcast. In 2021, Time Magazine called her "arguably the most successful woman in podcasting".[1]

Biography

Cooper was born in Newtown, Pennsylvania, as the youngest of three siblings. Her father was a TV sports producer and her mother was a psychologist. Cooper then matriculated to Boston University to study film and television, while playing on the school's soccer team.[1]

After college, she moved to New York City and worked in advertising sales. She was laid off from this job and began working for Seeking.com, under the companies former name Seeking Arrangement. [1]

In 2018, Cooper and her roommate Sofia Franklyn created the Call Her Daddy podcast. One month after its first episode, it was acquired by Barstool Sports.[2] The podcast rapidly increased in popularity, with downloads rising from 12,000 to 2 million in two months.[3]

Cooper signed a 3-year exclusive deal with Spotify worth $60 million, the platform's largest deal with a female-led podcast. Her estimated $30 million annual salary makes her the second highest paid podcaster, behind only Joe Rogan.[2]

In 2023, Cooper was named to the Time 100 Next list.[4]

Cooper became engaged to producer Matt Kaplan in 2023, and the couple formed Gen Z-focused media company Trending.[5]
