The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival under its original title Allswell on June 13, 2022.[3] On October 2, 2023, Scatena & Rosner Films acquired the film's US distribution rights and renamed it to Allswell in New York. It will be released theatrically on November 3 and on digital and VOD on December 1.[4]

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 88% of 8 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 5.7/10.

William Bibbiani of TheWrap wrote that the film is "full of love and meaning while engaging, directly, with the failings of the film's characters."[5] Mae Abdulbaki of Screen Rant wrote that while the film "could have certainly expanded on the character dynamics a bit more", it is "engaging and well-handled overall".[3]

Sumner Forbes of Film Threat gave the film a score of 6 out of 10.[6] Kristen Lopez of IndieWire gave the film a grade of "C" and wrote that the film "feels like a Lifetime series pilot, with the women adhering to one stereotype each", and that "These aren't characters reconciling with their past; it's three disparate characters forced to be in one movie."[7]
