Andy Tabanas

Andre Abos Tabanas (born November 30, 1969) Is a Filipino former professional boxer who challenged for the IBF Mini-flyweight, WBC Strawweight, WBO Light-flyweight titles and he held the WBO Asia Pacific Light-flyweight title.

Professional career

Andy Tabanas' most notable opponents are Manny Melchor, Nico Thomas, Fahlan Sakkreerin, Ricardo López, Nelson Dieppa and Eric Chavez, Tabanas was also a part of the ALA Promotions.

Andy Tabanas first had a world title shot against Fahlan Sakkreerin for the IBF Mini-flyweight title after Tabanas had a 17 win streak, Sakkreerin won via unanimous decision.

His second world title match up is against legend Ricardo López for the WBC Strawweight title, Tabanas was again unsuccessful and lost on the twelfth round via TKO.

On May 25, 2000, he defended the previously vacated WBO Asia Pacific Light-flyweight title against Agus Ray before getting another world titles shot, Tabanas had a rematch with Fahlan Sakkreerin for the vacant WBO Light-flyweight title, but the match ended in a draw (tie).[1] Tabanas had a chance to take the title again, now against Nelson Dieppa, but he lost via knockout in the 11th Round.
