Overview

Concept and Formation

Atarashii Gakkou no Leaders adopts a philosophy of challenging the norms of Japanese society. Positioning themselves as the representatives of Japanese youth, the groups guiding principal states: "In a time when only exemplar citizens are acknowledged, we strive to defy a narrow-minded society by embracing individuality and freedom."[4] While the circumstances surrounding the groups formation have never been disclosed the group provided an anecdotal backstory during a stint on the popular radio program "All Night Nippon". After soliciting listener opinions the group announced that they had met in a supermarket discount aisle for ready-to-eat food while reaching for the half-priced dishes simultaneously.[4]
