Atticus (poet)
Atticus is a British Canadian[1] anonymous poet[2][3] who resides in Venice Beach, California.[4] He has written 4 Bestselling books. His books, The Dark Between Stars and The Truth About Magic, became New York Times Best Sellers.[5] He writes poems incorporating themes of love, relationships, and adventure.[6] His name was inspired by the "Atticans," a nation of philosopher poets in Ancient Greece.

Atticus made a choice to remain anonymous[7] after losing a friend to an overdose in Vancouver, British Columbia.[4][8][6]
Atticus cites a wide array of artists and writers as influences, including numerous poets, musicians, and public figures from the mid-twentieth century, such as Jack Kerouac, Ernest Hemingway, Mary Oliver, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Monet, Bob Dylan, Robert Frost, Chet Baker, and Steve McQueen.[6]
Personal life
Atticus began sharing poetry online in 2013 after becoming friends with Michael Madsen.[9][6]
Atticus works with the nonprofit To Write Love On Her Arms in support of mental health services and awareness for youth.[10]
Career
He wears a mask during readings and book signings as a symbol of spreading art with fame.[11]
Karlie Kloss, Alicia Keys, Emma Roberts, The Chainsmokers, Maroon 5, Rachel Bilson, and Cody Simpson have quoted his works.[12] In 2018 Atticus was hired by the International Bestselling DJ/Producer Kygo to create the live poetry sequence for Kygo’s ‘Kids in Love' World Tour. In 2022 Atticus launched Lost Poet Wines with the American spirt company WINC. A wine brand combining wine and poetry.[13] In 2022 Atticus launched Poet Coffee with Bellwether Coffee, and Peter Rive, the founder of Solar City and cousin to Elon Musk. In 2023 they launched a coffee with Tim Ferriss for their charity. Atticus has been a long supporter of UNICEF and released a project highlighting the poetry of young poets from war-torn areas around the world. He employs the spouses of armed forces using placement services like SquaredAway. In 2022 Atticus released the first ever Ted Talk as an avatar. The TED Talk was centered around spreading Art without fame. He is a large proponent of equal rights in sports. In 2022 he teamed with ESPN to promote the 50th anniversary of TITLE IX, the federal civil rights law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in any educational institution that receives federal funding and gives women the equal opportunity to play sports.
Influences
Atticus cites his inspiration from his favorite writers: Walt Whitman, Charles Bukowski, Jack Kerouac, Sylvia Plath, and Maya Angelou.[14] Tyler Rich, the country music star, released a hit song called "Leave Her Wild," saying his wife was a "fan of Atticus and introduced him to his poetry".

The Dark Between Stars is a New York Times bestseller. It has been translated into 14 languages, including German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese.[15]
The Truth About Magic was released on September 10, 2019.[16]
