History

The rector of Bago University imposed a ban on BUSU member students who attempted to take the exam while wearing white and black wristbands in protest, as a response to the violent suppression of the Letpadan student strike in 2015.[3] Following the 2021 Myanmar coup d'état, this organization was actively participated in the anti-coup movement both in person at rallies and through social media. Denouncing the military coup, this organization has taken part in protests since February.[4][5] On 9 April 2021 of Bago massacre, at least 80 civilians including BUSU members: three university students—Ko Arkar Min Khant, a second-year zoology student, Ko Bo Bo Naing, a first-year zoology student, and Ko Kaung Kyaw Tun, 19, a first-year mathematics student—were killed during the raids by Myanmar Army troops and Myanmar Police Force under control State Administration Council.[6] Later many BUSU members were charged with calling for participation in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) and damaging the state's ability to govern, with supporting the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, and with generally inciting the people to disturb the peace and stability of the nation.[7][8][9][10]
