Nadech Kugimiya

Nadech Kugimiya (Thai: ณเดชน์ คูกิมิยะ; born December 17, 1991)[1][2] is a Thai actor and model. He is best known for his roles in Duang Jai Akkanee (2010), Game Rai Game Rak (2011), Sunset at Chaophraya (2013), The Rising Sun Series (2014), Leh Lub Salub Rarng (2017), The Crown Princess (2018) and The Con-Heartist (2020).

Early life and education

Nadech Kugimiya, birth name Chonlathit Yodprathum,[1][2] was born on December 17, 1991[4] in Khon Kaen, Thailand.[4] He is the adopted child of Sudarat Kugimiya (his biological aunt) and Yoshio Kugimiya. His biological mother is Thai and Sudarat's younger sister while his biological father is Austrian. His nickname "Barry" has evolved from his original nickname "Brant". He graduated from Rangsit University with a bachelor's degree in communications, major in Film and Cinematography. He then graduated with a master's degree in May, 2020.[5]

Career

Kugimiya started his modeling career at the age of 17 and his first TV commercial was a Trident Recaldent chewing gum ad starring alongside Thailand's superstar heroine Aum-Patcharapa Chaichua, with Nadech playing the role as Fruit Seller in 2009. In 2010, he made his acting debut in a feature drama, starring in the lead role, in Ngao Rak Luang Jai as "Nawa Gamtornpuwanat". He gained immense popularity after he starred in Duang Jai Akkanee as "Fai Akkanee Adisuan" and in Game Rai Game Rak as "Saichon / Charles Makovich" alongside Urassaya Sperbund. He was also a member of the group "4+1 Channel 3 Superstar" with Mario Maurer, Prin Suparat, Pakorn Chatborirak, and Phupoom Pongpanu. He has an exclusive contract with Channel 3 (Thailand), with Suphachai Srivijit being his manager.

He is one of the highest paid actors in Thailand.[6] Kugimiya is also a very in-demand brand endorser; he has been dubbed "King of Presenters."[7] He has endorsed numerous major brands including Shopee, OPPO, 7-Eleven, AIR ASIA, Daikin, and TrueMove H. He is also one of the most visible celebrities in television, print, and billboard advertisements.[8]

Kugimiya is considered one of the most decorated Thai actors.[9] He has received more than 100 awards including the Best Actor award from the Suphannahong National Film Awards, Mekhala Awards, Nataraja Awards, and TV Gold Awards.[10] Kugimiya frequently appears on the list of the most popular and influential people in Thailand.[11][12][13]

Business

On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, Nadech teamed up with Mak-Prin Suparat and 2 other non-industry friends to open a business called TheReCrafting, which is a brand of leather goods and a complete leather spa including shoes, clothes and bags.[14] The following year, he teamed up with another friend non-industry to open an athlete potential development center called Sport Tech Pro in Ekkamai area.[15]

Personal life

Nadech is a person likes listening music and playing music instrumentsmany things like Guitar, Ukulele[16] by when free from the drama filming he always brings Ukulele, Cornet and Banjo came to play often.[17] During junior high school Nadech with friends gathered together to form a band to perform at various school events[17] band name: DX Nadech is the bassist and sometimes the lead singer.[18] Including fond of photography as a hobby.[19][20] The most popular sports played in their free time are Football, Swimming, Golf and Taekwondo, which he has for second place among young men aged not over 6–9 years from the Thailand Championship in 2002. In addition, Nadech has faith and regularly participates in Buddhist activities, having been ordained as a novice when he was young.[21] Until receiving an award for a virtuous person who promotes Buddhism on the occasion of the Vesak Day 2011 by the Artist Council promoting Buddhism of Thailand.

In the first 10 years in the industry, Nadech did not play social media like other famous stars until he was seen as old-fashioned. until Thursday, September 25, 2019, or a week after the drama sacrifice, The Kinnaree Conspiracy, he decide to open his own Instagram account named "Kugimiyas" to conform to Instagram "Urassayas" of his girlfriend Yaya. In the first day, he following only Yaya, Mae Kaew (Nadech's adoptive mother) and "Nadechactivity", which is the official fan club IG. And with almost a hundred thousand followers.[22]

Kugimiya has been in a relationship with Urassaya Sperbund since 2011. On June 5, 2023, Kugimiya and Sperbund jointly announced that they got engaged in Positano, Italy via Instagram.[23]
