Benjamin Saunders (rugby union)

Benjamin Saunders is a rugby union player for the Philippines national rugby union team he plays for the Red Hurricanes Osaka in the Japan Rugby League One.[1][2]

Career

Saunders joined Japanese side Toyota Industries Shuttles in 2013, where he stayed for seven seasons before joining rival side Red Hurricanes Osaka in 2020.[3][4]

He has played for the national, u20 and sevens[5] teams of the Philippines,[6] he captained Philippine under-20s team which won the Junior Asian Division 2 championship in Vientiane, Laos.[7]

Personal life

He grew up in Australia, to a British father and a Filipina mother who hails from Pangasinan. He has three other siblings Oliver, Matt and sister Abigail.[7] Both his brothers have also played for the Philippines national team.
