Bir Uttam Shaheed Samad School & College

The history of Bir Uttam Shaheed Samad School & College can be traced to 1974 when the foundation stone was laid by Major General Md. Abdul Mannaf, the then commander of Northern Zone and G.O.C of 66 Infantry Division of Bangladesh in Rangpur Cantonment. The institution was organized for the education of the children of cantonment officers and local elite people. School Section began in 1974, College Section in 2019.

History

This school started in 1974 after the name of Abu Mayeen Ashfakus Samad. The journey of the school began in 1974 in a then tinshaded building on the site of the static signal company's unit building near the Cantonment Branch Post Office of Rangpur Cantonment. Later, school teaching was started temporarily in the building adjacent to the present main building of G-E (Army) of 'MES' as a school building. In 1977, Shaheed Samad School's own building was prepared west of Shaheed Mukhtar Elahi Chatwar (presently the main building of Cantonment Public School and College, Rangpur). On its own building journey, the name of Shaheed Samad School was changed from Shaheed Samad School to Cantonment Public School and College in 1978 and the journey of Cantonment Public School and College began there.

On March 17, 1981, the then military commander of the Northern Region, Major General Abdul Mannaf, established the main building of Shaheed Samad High School on the northern side of the field of 25 Bir Unit by the PSC.On September 15 of the same year, Shaheed Samad High School was inaugurated at its current location by the then Honorable Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Hussain Muhammad Ershad, NDC, PSC. Later in 2000 the name was changed from Shaheed Samad High School to 'Bir Uttam Shaheed Samad High School' and on 1 July 2019 the college branch was inaugurated by the then General Officer Commanding, 66 Infantry Division and Area Commander, Rangpur Area.Over time the school was upgraded to Lower Secondary in 1978 and later to Secondary in 1981.The school is managed by the Rangpur Cantonment Board under the Directorate of Military Lands and Cantonment, Ministry of Defence. The college is surrounded by a wall with grounds and premises on 6.00 acres of land along the river Ghaghat at the northern end of Rangpur cantonment. The school building is 'L' shaped with two storeys.

Bir Uttam Shaheed Samad School and College is located in Rangpur. The college is located in Rangpur Cantonment, Rangpur in Shaheed Samad area. Long trees made the place more attractive and a canal passes through the campus.

In 2012, Bir Uttam Shaheed Samad High School Rangpur achieved the 18th best results of Dinajpur Education Board, with all 83 students in the school passing, 50 of whom received GPA-5.[1]

In 2014 the school was ranked 15th, [2] and in 2015 it was ranked 17th.[3]
