Bobirjon Omonov

Bobirjon Omonov (Uzbek: Bobirjon Zoirjon oʻgʻli Omonov) was born on October 11, 2000, in Andijan Region, Uzbekistan.[1] He is a Uzbek para-athlete specializing in shot put in the F41 category. He is a gold medalist at the Para Asian Games, a world champion, and a Paralympic champion.

Career

In 2016, he began training in Paralympic athletics under the guidance of coach Mavlon Khaidarov. Starting in 2017, he began participating in international competitions.[2]

In 2018, he became the champion in the men's shot put in the F41 category with a distance of 12.31 meters at the Para Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.[3]

In 2019, at the World Championships in Dubai, UAE, he won a gold medal in men's shot put in the F41 category with a distance of 14.03 meters and secured a spot for the Paralympic Games.[4][5][6][7]

On August 30, 2021, at the Summer Paralympic Games, he won a gold medal in men's shot put in the F41 category with a distance of 14.06 meters, setting a new Paralympic record.[8][9][10] In the same year, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, awarded Omonov the honorary title of "Uzbekiston iftixori" ("Pride of Uzbekistan").[1][10]

In 2023 Omonov won the gold medal with a result of 14.73 meters in the men's shot put F41 event at The World Para Athletics Championships in Paris, France.[5][11][12]
