Successful stars of the year
1. Jeetendra- He had an extremely successful year with box office smashes like Himmatwala, Mawaali, Justice Chaudhary and Jaani Dost.
2. Amitabh Bachchan- Apart from starring in in the top grossing Coolie, Bachchan had only one hit- Andhaa Kanoon, in which he made an extended special appearance. His other films Pukar and Nastik were average grossers.
3. Shammi Kapoor- The veteran Kapoor continued his second innings with pivotal roles in launchpad vehicles Betaab and Hero.
4. Hema Malini- Malini featured in a supporting role in Justice Chaudhary and played strong characters in Andhaa Kanoon and Nastik.
5. Sridevi- It was a breakthrough year for Sridevi as she featured in four hits- Himmatwala, Mawaali, Justice Chaudhary and Jaani Dost, all of them opposite Jeetendra.
