Brian Worrell is an American politician who represents District 4 on the Boston City Council.[1]

Early life and education

Worrell, whose parents immigrated from Jamaica and Barbados,[1] graduated from METCO, a voluntary school desegregation program in Boston,[2] before enrolling at Northeastern University. Worrell majored in accounting and entrepreneurship.

Political career

Worrell announced his candidacy for the Boston City Council after former District 4 councilor Andrea Campbell announced her candidacy for mayor of Boston.[3] Worrell topped the ticket in the preliminary election, receiving a quarter of the votes cast (2,489 votes).[4] He is the first Black man to serve on the council since 2017.[5]

Worrell defeated former state representative Evandro Carvahlo in the general election.[6]
