Carlos Bittencourt

Carlos de Melo Bittencourt Filho (18 March 1930 – 12 October 2010) was a Brazilian Olympic sailor in the Star class. He competed in the 1948 Summer Olympics, where he finished 14th together with João José Bracony.[1]

In this Portuguese name, the first or maternal family name is de Melo and the second or paternal family name is Bittencourt. "Filho" is a generational suffix meaning "son", which is used for someone whose name is the same as their father, like "Jr." in English.
