Chicherina has expressed support for the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic and Luhansk People's Republic in the Russo-Ukraine War.[3][4][5][6] This led to her being banned from performing in the FIFA ”fan zone” in Rostov-on-Don during the 2018 World Cup.[7] In March 2022 she was filmed taking down a Ukrainian flag in the city of Enerhodar, which was occupied during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.[8]
