A critic from Rediff.com wrote that "This Devdas will cry his way out of theatres very soon. Give the film a miss".[4] A critic from Bangalore Mirror wrote that "Even for Yogesh’s hardcore fans, it will be difficult to fathom. Should we say more?"[5] A critic from Nowrunning wrote that "'Devadas' is just an ordinary film narrated in an amateurish manner".[6] A critic from Indiaglitz wrote that "This kind of film is a few days film on screen. Precisely made for the fans of Yogish!"[7]
