College career
North Carolina Central
In Walker's first season he did not play in any games because of the cancellation of the 2020 season due to COVID-19.[4]
Kent State
After one season with North Carolina Central, Walker decided to transfer to Kent State.[5] Walker made his collegiate debut in week one of the 2021 season, where he brought in one pass for three yards, as Kent State was destroyed by #6 Texas A&M 41–10.[6] In the team's bowl game, Walker caught one pass for 74 yards and a touchdown, but it would not matter as the Golden Flashes lost 52–38 against Wyoming.[7][8] Walker finished the 2021 season with five receptions for 124 yards and a touchdown.[9] Walker opened the 2022 season strong, as in week one he caught four passes for 56 yards including a 47-yard touchdown reception, but Kent State would lose to Washington 45–20.[10][11] In week three vs LIU, Walker hauled in three receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown, as the Golden Flashes beat LIU 63–10.[12][13] In the following game in week four, Walker had one of the best performances of his career, bringing in seven receptions for 106 yards and a touchdown, but Kent State would fall to #1 Georgia 39–22.[14][15] Walker would have another good performance in week five, where he caught six passes for 107 yards, as Kent State beat Ohio 31–24.[16] A game later in week six, Walker would have another outstanding performance, having 11 receptions for 159 yards and two touchdowns, but his efforts would not be enough as the Golden Flashes fell to Miami Ohio 27–24.[17][18] In week eight, Walker would have another excellent performance, racking up five receptions for 72 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding a rushing touchdown, as Kent State would hold on to beat Akron 33–27.[19][20] A game later, Walker would have a disappointing performance, only bringing in one reception for 14 yards and a touchdown, but Kent State would still lose 27–20 to Ball State.[21][22] In week eleven, Walker had another outstanding performance, making five catches for 86 yards and two touchdowns, as he helped the Golden Flashes dominate Bowling Green 40–6.[23][24] Walker would continue to perform, as in the game in week twelve he hauled in six receptions for 126 yards, but once again his performance would not matter as Kent State fell 31-24 versus Eastern Michigan.[25] In the team's season finale, Walker had another great performance, where he brought in five receptions for 84 yards and the game winning touchdown, as he helped Kent State end the season with a win as they beat Buffalo 30–27.[26][27]
Walker finished his breakout 2022 season with 58 receptions for 921 yards and 11 touchdowns, while also adding 29 yards and a touchdown on the ground.[28] For his performance on the 2022 season, Walker was named first team All-MAC.[29][30] After the conclusion of the 2022 season, Walker decided to enter his name into the transfer portal.[31]
North Carolina
Walker announced that he had decided to transfer to continue his college football career at North Carolina.[32][33] Walker was named to the 2023 Preseason All ACC Team.[34][35] In a controversial and highly criticized decision, the NCAA ruled Walker a two-time transfer, though he never played a single snap for North Carolina Central, and Walker was subsequently denied eligibility for 2023.[36][37] However, on October 5, 2023, the NCAA reversed course, granted Walker eligibility for the remainder of the 2023 season, citing new and additional information had been made available. The NCAA released a statement that stated "...we want to assure the Division I membership and everyone watching how the new transfer rules are applied, that this meets the new transfer waiver standards."[38]
