Courses/Degrees offered

The department currently offers a full-time Master of Management program (M.Mgmt) and a Ph.D. program. Additionally, it provides an External Registration Program (ERP) for practicing industry professionals. Admission to the MBA program is exclusively open to engineering graduates. The selection process involves a rigorous three-step screening, which begins with an all-India level test such as CAT/GMAT/GATE, followed by a group discussion and personal interview. The M.Mgmt batch size is strictly limited to 16 students.

MBA Program

The MBA program was offered until 2008 and was structured as a 21-month, four-term program. The courses were categorized into three main areas: hard core, soft core, and electives. The hard core courses aimed to equip students with fundamental skills across various management disciplines, while the soft core and elective courses were designed to cater to individual interests. Alongside classroom teaching, students were required to undertake mandatory industry projects. At the end of the first year, every student was obligated to complete an internship in the industry for a minimum of eight weeks. During the fourth semester, students would undertake industrial projects, which often served as their M.Mgmt thesis project.

Starting from August 2011, the Master of Management Program has been offered. The eligibility criteria for admission remain the same as those for the earlier MBA program. The M.Mgmt course is unique as it specializes in Technology Management and Business Analytics, aligning with the contemporary demands of society and industry. The curriculum is highly quantitative and technology-oriented, aimed at nurturing graduate engineers to become competent and socially responsible management leaders in organizations that are technology-intensive and data-driven. The selection process is rigorous, involving the shortlisting of around 450 students from approximately 3000 applicants, with the final selection resulting in 16 students being admitted to the program.

Weekly Seminars

Every Friday, DoMS is graced by stalwarts from the industry who provide the students with insights into their personal & professional life. This is a platform where the leaders of tomorrow interact and learn from those who have redefined the way business is done today. Every seminar focuses on Contemporary Technology Management or Business Analytics problems and delves into solutions relevant to the same.
