Drag Race México

Drag Race México is a Mexican reality competition television series based on the original American series RuPaul's Drag Race and part of the Drag Race franchise. It airs on MTV and Paramount+ in Mexico and Latin America, and on WOW Presents Plus internationally.[1][2][3]

Drag Race México is the thirteenth international adaptation of the American reality competition series RuPaul's Drag Race, following Chilean, Thai, British, Canadian, Dutch, Australian and New Zealand, Spanish, Italian, French, Filipino, Belgian, and Swedish versions. It has been followed by Brazilian and German iterations.

Drag Race México debuted on June 22, 2023, on Paramount+.[4] Episodes premiere on a weekly basis every Thursday, and later aired on MTV on primetime.

Cristian Peralta won the first season, with Gala Varo, Matraka and Regina Voce as runners-up, while Lady Kero was named Miss Congeniality. In July 2023, the series was renewed for a second season.[5]

Judges

The competition series is hosted and judged primarily by Mexican drag queens, Valentina, who competed in the ninth season of RuPaul's Drag Race and the fourth season of All Stars, and Lolita Banana, who competed in the first season of Drag Race France.[6] Mexican television presenter Óscar Madrazo, made appearances as the competition's prominent judge.[7]

Season 1 (2023)

In August 2022, the production company for RuPaul's Drag Race confirmed that a Mexican adaptation is in the works with casting calls.[8][9] In early May 2023, it was announced Rolling Stone announced that Mexican drag queens Valentina and Lolita Banana, will host the Mexican adaptation.[10]

In May 2023, Entertainment Weekly revealed the first eleven contestants for its first season.[11] The first season of Drag Race México began airing on June 22, 2023, on MTV and Paramount+ in Mexico and Latin America, and on WOW Presents Plus internationally. The season ran for 12 episodes and concluded on September 7, 2023. Gala Varo, Matraka and Regina Voce made the final, and Cristian Peralta was the winner of the first season.

Season 2 (2024)

In July 2023, it was announced that Paramount+ renewed the series for a second season.[5]
