Biography
Edwards joined The Spinners in 1963 as a replacement for George Dixon. Edgar's brother James was a founding member of the group, but was only in the group for a few weeks. Not long after Edwards joined, Motown Records owner Berry Gordy had bought out Tri-Phi, the label the group were signed onto.[1] Edgar only sang on one Spinners album, that being their debut The Original Spinners.[2] Edwards only sings lead vocals on one song, “Tomorrow May Never Comes”.
Combined, Edwards sang on four singles and one album released by the Spinners. He left the group in 1967, shortly before the release of The Original Spinners, although he is still credited and appears on the cover. Edwards died on December 3, 2011.[3]
