Early life
Raised in New York City, Pesce was the son of Italian parents.[1]
Career
Pesce started his film career as an extra in The Godfather Part II,[2] and got his first credited role in 1976, in an episode of the television series Police Story.[3] He guest-starred a large number of well-known TV-series, including Knight Rider, Kojak and Matlock, and was a busy character actor in films, notably appearing in Rocky, Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop and Flashdance.[3] He wrote the script of the film 29th Street, based on his own autobiographical experiences.[2][3][4] He made his last appearance in 2015, in Creed.[5]
Personal life
Pesce passed away on February 6, 2022, in Los Angeles.
On June 15th, 2023, 29th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in Manhattan was forever co-named “Frank Pesce Way” during a ceremony with the New York City Council. Pesce wrote and starred in the 1991 film “29th Street,” based upon the block he grew up on.
