Frudal Tunnel
The Frudal Tunnel (Norwegian: Frudalstunnelen) is a road tunnel along the Norwegian National Road 5 in Sogndal, Norway. The tunnel is approximately 6,758 metres (4.199 mi) beginning at the Frudalen farm and passing through the mountains under the Frudalsbreen glacier, and exiting at the Berge farm area. The tunnel was inaugurated on 29 October 1994.[1][2]

After the Frudal Tunnel was built, the residents of Fjærland began discussing changes to the municipal borders. On 1 January 2000, the entire Fjærland area was transferred to the Sogndal municipality. On 1 January 2020, the municipalities of Balestrand, Sogndal and Leikanger were merged into the Sogndal Municipality.
