Gerry Murphy (businessman)

Gerard Martin Murphy (born 6 June 1955) is an Irish businessman, and the chairman of fashion company Burberry and the sugar company Tate & Lyle. From 1 September he will be chairman of the supermarket chain Tesco, and will then stand down from his job at Tate & Lyle.[1]

Murphy earned a BSc and PhD in food science and technology. He attended University College Dublin graduating with an MBS in 1983 in marketing.[2][3]
