Giorgio Marchetti

Giorgio Marchetti (born 1 January 1960) is an Italian sports official who is the vice secretary general of UEFA.

Early life

Marchetti has worked in football since the 1980s and started his career as a secretary in the Lega Nazionale Professionisti.[1]

Career

Marchetti has been described as having an "important role in Italy with regard to new transfer systems, calendars and licensing".[2] In 2003, he was appointed marking director of UEFA, becoming the first Italian to hold the position.[3] In 2016, he was appointed head of the UEFA Champions League draw.[4] He has been described as developed "a cult following over the years, with supporters often tweeting their support for the Italian".[5]

Personal life

Marchetti is married and has three children.[6]
