Gizelle Bryant

Gizelle Annette Bryant (née Graves; born September 9, 1970) is an American model, television personality and author. She was the First Lady of Empowerment Temple AME. She has appeared on the reality TV series The Real Housewives of Potomac since 2016.[1]

Early life and education

Bryant was born Gizelle Graves on September 9, 1970, in Houston, Texas[2] to former politician and civil rights activist Curtis Graves and Joanne Graves.[3] She graduated from Hampton University in 1992 with a degree in marketing.[3]

Career

Since its premiere on January 17, 2016, Bryant has been a leading cast member of Bravo's The Real Housewives of Potomac.[4]

In 2017, Bryant launched her beauty brand EveryHue Beauty.[5] She later became co-host of Bravo's Chat Room in 2020 with Porsha Williams.[6]

In May 2021, Bryant teamed with Robyn Dixon for Reasonably Shady, a podcast featuring stories from their lives and how they deal with them. In 2022, the podcast was nominated for Outstanding Arts and Entertainment Podcast at the 53rd NAACP Image Awards.[7][8]

In March 2023, Bryant starred in the third season of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, which premiered on Peacock.[9]

Author

Bryant published her book My Word in April 2019, for which she won an African-American Literary Award for Best Fiction.[2][8]

Personal life

Bryant married megachurch pastor and activist Jamal Harrison Bryant in 2002, and they have 3 daughters.[10]

In 2008, Bryant filed for divorce, accusing Jamal of adultery.[11] They divorced later in 2009.[12][13][14]

Through her father, Bryant is second cousins to Marc Morial president of the National Urban League. She is also a cousin to former CNN correspondent Suzanne Malveaux.[15]

Bryant is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.[15][16]
