Grace Nyinawumuntu

Marie Grace Nyinawumuntu (born 316 December 1981) is a Rwandan football manager and former footballer.[1][2][3]

Early life

Nyinawumuntu grew up playing sports with her male cousins.[4]

Education

Nyinawumuntu attended the Lycée de Kigali in Rwanda.[5] She then obtained a master's degree in physical education and sport.[6]

Playing career

Nyinawumuntu played for the city of Kigali, where she was described as "her impressive performances earned her a place in the national team".[7]

Style of play

Nyinawumuntu mainly operated as a central defender.[8]

Managerial career

Nyinawumuntu is the first Rwandan female international referee and the first Rwandan female national football manager.[9] Nyinawumuntu attended a coaching course in Germany in 2008.[10] She managed Rwandan side AS Kigali, helping the club win the league.[11]

Personal life

Nyinawumuntu's father died in the Rwandan genocide.[12] She has been married to a lawyer.[13]
