Hildegart is an upcoming Spanish drama film directed by Paula Ortiz from a screenplay by Eduard Solà and Clara Roquet starring Najwa Nimri and Alba Planas as respectively Aurora and Hildegart.

Plot

Conceived and nurtured by her mother Aurora upon a pet project to deliver the woman of the future, 18-year-old Hildegart, already a brilliant mind and acknowledged European pundit on female sexuality, attempts to set herself free from Aurora's grip as she gets acquainted with Abel Vilella, pitting mother and daughter against each other on a fateful night in 1933.[1][2][3]

The screenplay was penned by Eduard Solà and Clara Roquet.[n. 1][6] An Avalon and Elastica Films production,[3] the project was disclosed by Amazon Prime Video at the 'Prime Video Presents España' event in April 2023.[7] The platform pitched the film as a mix of "historical drama, romance, thriller and a touch of true crime".[8] Main cast additions including Najwa Nimri, Alba Planas, Patrick Criado, Aixa Villagrán and Pepe Viyuela were announced on 14 June 2023.[2] Shooting had already begun by July 2023.[9] Production wrapped on 19 August 2023.[10] Shooting locations in Madrid included the Congress, Puerta del Sol, and Ateneo de Madrid.[10]

Release

The film will be distributed by Amazon Prime Video. Its release is expected for 2024.[10]
