Production

The series was announced on July 21, 2023 at San Diego Comic-Con as a series of 5 promotional shorts animated in the style of Star Trek: The Animated Series in celebration of that series' 50th anniversary.[1]

Release

The shorts premiered on StarTrek.com and the Star Trek YouTube channel on September 8, 2023, with each new short releasing weekly on Wednesdays through to October 4.[2] Very Short Treks was marketed as "anything but canon", establishing that the series is not a part of the official Star Trek canon.[3] An additional episode, "The Making of very Short Treks with Casper Kelly" was released on October 10, 2023.[4]

Tie-in media

It is expected to debut digitally in September on StarTrek.com with physical copies available at New York Comic Con in October.[1]
