Background
Österåker United FK (as of 2023) currently plays in Division 2 Norra Svealand which is the fourth tier of Swedish football.[2] They play their home matches at Österåkers Friidrotssarena in Åkersberga.[3]
The original club (IFK Österåker FK) was founded after two local clubs (Runö IF and Åkersberga IF)[4] merged in 1928. But in 2022, in anticipation of the 2023 season, the club merged and rebranded together with another local team,[5] Åkersberga BK (founded in 1973).[6] IFK Österåker FK was renamed Österåker United FK while Åkersberga BK was renamed Österåker United BK and became a kind of "B-team".
The club is affiliated with Stockholms Fotbollförbund.[7]
Season to season
* League restructuring in 2006 resulted in a new division being created at Tier 3 and subsequent divisions dropping a level. [8] [9] [10] |
