Ian Stubbs

Ian Stubbs was the first Mayor of the City of Busselton, a local government area in the South West region of Western Australia. He served as Mayor from 2012 to 2015.

Political career

Stubbs started his career in local government as an Assistant Clerk at the Shire of Dandaragan in 1969, a role he was in for approximately 20 years. In 1990 he became the Shire Clerk at the Shire of Busselton, before going on to be the first chief executive officer of the Shire of Busselton from 1994.[1]

He was first elected as Shire Councillor in 2007 and served as Busselton Shire President from 2009.[2] Stubbs retired from his position as Mayor in October 2015.[3] He continues to live in Busselton with his wife Rhonda Stubbs.[4]

Awards and honours

In 2014 Stubbs was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for his service to local government and the community of Busselton.[5]

In 2017 he received the Honorary Freeman of the City award from the City of Busselton.[6]
