Imperial Family Mausoleum in Vassouras

The Mausoleum of the Imperial Family (Portuguese: Mausoléu da Família Imperial), located in the Cemetery of the Irmandade de Nossa Senhora da Conceição, in Vassouras, Brazil. The mausoleum houses the remains of Prince Pedro Henrique of Orléans-Braganza and his wife, Princess Maria Elisabeth of Bavaria, and some of their descendants are also buried there.[1][2][3][4]

The mausoleum was painted by two daughters of Pedro Henrique and Maria Elisabeth, Princesses Maria Gabriela and Maria Teresa of Orléans-Braganza, who are painters. In style of the mausoleum and temple where it is located, the Imperial Mausoleum is adorned with the coats of arms of the former Brazilian imperial family, as well as figures of saints of the Catholic Church.
