John Gallucci Jr.

Gallucci was born in Brooklyn, New York and attended Monsignor Farrell High School. He was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 2010.[4] He went on to study at Long Island University, where he graduated with his master's degree in Sports Science and Athletic Training. Gallucci then earned master's and doctorate degrees in physical therapy at Dominican College in Orangeburg, New York.[5] In 2018, John was named Dominican College's Person of the Year and was the first alumnus to receive this honor.

After graduating from Long Island University, Gallucci accepted a position as an athletic trainer at New York University, where he spent five years.[6] During his time at NYU, Gallucci developed a long-standing relationship with New York Knicks player Cal Ramsey. Through that relationship, he was offered a position working with the New York Knicks as a medical coordinator, where he was responsible for covering the franchise's summer youth programs under the supervision of Knicks head athletic trainer Mike Saunders.[7] He spent the next six years working at the Knicks organization.

Gallucci went on to become the athletic trainer for the Columbia University men's basketball team under the coach at the time, Armond Hill.

After leaving Columbia, Gallucci began to serve as head athletic trainer and physical therapist for many organizations including the New York Red Bulls, the Prudential Center, the New Jersey Storm, the New Jersey Pride, and New York Athletic Club Wrestling.

Gallucci was the founder and president of JAG Physical Therapy, and is the CEO of its successor company JAG-ONE Physical Therapy, which currently maintains over 120 physical and occupational therapy clinic locations in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.

Gallucci currently serves as the medical coordinator of Major League Soccer,[8] where he helps write and execute league-wide medical policies and procedures. He has also consulted with Soccer United Marketing and CONCACAF to coordinate medical care for venues in the United States, Canada, and parts of South America. He assists in the organization of the MLS Medical Meeting and the MLS College Combine, as well as coordinating physical therapy care for the MLS Cup and the league's All-Star Game.[9]

In 2014, Gallucci wrote his first book, Soccer Injury Prevention and Treatment: A Guide to Optimal Performance for Players, Parents, and Coaches. His second book, Play Ball: Don’t Let Injuries Sideline You This Season, was coauthored with New York Yankees head team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad and released in 2018.
