John Snow Society

The John Snow Society (JSS) is a learned society named for John Snow. Every year it meets at the John Snow pub. It hosts the Pumphandle Lecture at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.[1][2][3][4]

The JSS was established in 1993.[5]

Membership

As of 2022 lifetime membership costs £15.[6] Its members include Norman Begg.[6][7]

The JSS possesses the original Broad Street pump.[8]

Pumphandle lecture

John Snow pub

The society hosts an annual Pumphandle Lecture.[9][10] Following the talks, medical experts visit the John Snow pub.[11]
