Kalel Mullings

Kalel Mullings (born October 4, 2002) is an American football running back for the Michigan Wolverines.

Early life and high school

Mullings grew up in West Roxbury, Massachusetts and attended high school at Milton Academy. In Mullings's Junior season, he notched 509 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns, as well as 33 receptions for 358 yards and five touchdowns. He also returned a punt for a touchdown. On defense Mullings made 51 tackles, four sacks, and three interceptions.[1] For his performance on the season he was named the 2019 Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year.[2] In Mullings senior season he would rush for 371 yards and 22 touchdowns,[3] While also notching 289 yard and four touchdowns through the air.[4] Mullings would decide to commit to play college football at the University of Michigan over other programs such as Clemson, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Stanford.[5][6]

College career

In the 2020 season, Mullings would only appear in one game where he recorded one tackle.[7] Mullings finished the 2021 season with 11 tackles.[8] In Michigan's season finale versus rival Ohio State, Mullings would convert a big third down as he completed a pass for 15 yards to Luke Schoonmaker to help the Wolverines extend their drive and take a two score lead.[9] In the 2022 Big Ten Championship Game Mullings would rush for two touchdowns, as he helped Michigan win the Big Ten beating Purdue.[10] In the 2022 Fiesta Bowl, Mullings would rush for a one yard touchdowns, but he would also have a costly fumble at the goal line, which was recovered by TCU, as Michigan would fall to the Horned Frogs.[11] Mullings finished the 2022 season with 14 carries for 31 yards and three touchdowns, while also making 12 tackles.[12] In week five of the 2023 season, Mullings rushed for 43 yards and a touchdown, as he helped the Wolverines beat Nebraska.[13]
