Education

Richter received a Master's degree from Technikon Natal in Durban, South Africa in 2001, and a PhD from the Academy of Fine Arts, Prague in 2010.

Career

Richter combines "mediatised reality" with oil painting techniques, which she layers in week-long work stages to create her "mediatised streetscapes, materializing the tension of contemporary visual culture."[1] She has created visualizations at stock exchanges in New York ("Emporium Spirit", 2005)[2] and Prague ("Black Vortex", 2006).[3]

Some of Richter's initial work was for the early web, including a participatory web game ("M-System", 1998) and a project reflecting the medium of the web itself ("0-System", 1997).[4]

Since 2005 – in cooperation with Michael Bielický – Richter has developed web-based, often interactive projects controlled by real-time data fed from the Internet. Examples of their collaboration include 2015's "Lost Objects" at the National Theatre, Prague,[5] and a 2017 solo exhibition at the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Wifredo Lam in Havana.[6]
