Kavya – Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon (transl.Kavya – One Passion, One Obsession) is an Indian Hindi-language drama television series that premiered on 25 September 2023 on Sony Entertainment Television.[1] It digitally streams on Sony LIV. Produced by Deeya Singh and Tony Singh under DJ's a Creative Unit, it stars Sumbul Touqeer, Mishkat Varma, and Anuj Sullere.[2][3]

Plot

The story follows the life of Kavya Bansal, who belongs to a middle class family. She aspire to become a civil servant. Kavya and her fiancé Shubham dream to become IAS officers together. While Kavya fulfils the dream, Shubham fails and ask her to choose between her dreams and him. Kavya moves on in life and then crosses path with Adhiraj Pradhan, who becomes her support.

Production

Development

The series was announced by Deeya Singh and Tony Singh under DJ's a Creative Unit for Sony Entertainment Television. It follows the life and struggle of a female IAS officer.[4]

Casting

Sumbul Touqeer was cast as the female lead, an IAS Officer Kavya Bansal.[5] Mishkat Varma was cast as the male lead, Adhiraj Pradhan.[6] Anuj Sullere, the second male lead cast as Shubham, an IAS aspirant, marking his TV debut.[7]

Filming

The series is set in Lucknow. Principal photography commenced from July 2023 and it is mainly shot at the Film City, Mumbai.[8] Few initial portions were also shot in Lucknow, Kanpur and Delhi.[9]

Reception

Prachi Arya of India Today stated, "The show had a great start, ticking all the boxes, in terms of performance, engaging storyline and taut direction. Ditching the usual saas-bahu trope of daily soaps, Kavya is a respite for the viewers as it offers a compelling narrative about the protagonist as an IAS officer."[10]
