Kuki People's Alliance

The Kuki People's Alliance (abbreviated as KPA) is an Indian state-level political party in Manipur.[2][3][4] The Party has 2 MLAs in Manipur Legislative Assembly, making it, largest opposition party in Manipur after Congress.[5] The party's logo has interesting symbols of Hornbill and Star of David, with quote "Integrity, Development, Coexistence", the Star of David represents the Bnei Menashe tribe.[6]

History

KPA was formed by former Indian Foreign Service officer Tongmang Haokip and Wilson L Hangshing on January 12, 2022.[7][8]

Electoral Performance

The party won 2 seats in the 2022 Manipur Legislative Assembly election.[9][10][11] The KPA is mainly based on the interests of the Kuki people.[12][13][14] KPA supported BJP in Manipur and became an ally of BJP in its government.[15] KPA withdraw support from Biren Singh government in August 2023 citing the reason as failure of NDA government in 2023 Manipur violence.[16]
