Reception
On behalf of Dayton.com, Jim Ingram wrote,
Laughs Last whimsically dances around the room in various sounds and shades. From the airy 'Farm Action' to the bravado-fueled 'Get Out of My Way When I'm in Town,' the artsy indulgences of both songwriter and producer are aurally evident. Nowhere on the album is this point more clearly stated than on 'Aerial Photographs from Alcatraz,' which is reminiscent of early King Crimson.[2]
