Lord of the Wind (Russian: Повелитель ветра) is a 2023 Russian biographical adventure film directed by Igor Voloshin, dedicated to the famous Russian traveler Fyodor Konyukhov’s round-the-world flight in a hot air balloon in 2016, the film stars Fyodor Bondarchuk and Anna Mikhalkova.[1][2]

Plot

The film tells the story of a legendary Russian traveler named Fyodor Konyukhov, who sets out on a new dangerous journey in a hot air balloon all alone.[4]

Fyodor Konyukhov, who has already set 25 world records, made more than fifty expeditions to the most dangerous corners of the Earth, circled the globe five times and crossed the Atlantic 17 times, is going on a new journey in 11 days, he plans to circle the planet in a hot air balloon, being proud alone. A whole team is preparing for the flight, but they are unable to predict what difficulties and dangers the traveler will face high in the sky.

During the flight, the balloon with Konyukhov on board gets caught in a hurricane. Despite this most difficult test, the traveler tries not to lose his presence of mind and move only forward - to those who are waiting for his return on earth. Meanwhile, the whole world is watching the aeronaut’s flight with bated breath.

Production

The production of the film was carried out by such film companies as Art Pictures Studio, Vodorod Film Company, and Central Partnership Productions, with the support of the TV channels Russia 1, STS and the Cinema Fund.

Some episodes were filmed in the Republic of Dagestan, there are locations whose landscape is reminiscent of the area from where Konyukhov’s round-the-world trip started in 2016.
