Career

Lapid began releasing covers on YouTube and Instagram in 2018.[4] She began writing original songs in February 2020.[4] She is a member of vocal collective EARCANDY.[5] She studied classical piano and even played violin in an orchestra for seven years before starting to make covers. She's been playing guitar and ukulele as well.[5][4]

Lapid initially gained popularity for her song Producer Man, which is about her experience with a bad record producer. She released it on TikTok, line by verse, a capella, accompanied solely by her beating fists and snapping fingers. The lyrics painted a picture of exploitation that was as old as the music industry itself.[4] She is signed to Republic Records.[2][4] Her contract was transferred to Mercury, a split of Republic Records.[6]

In January 2022, she was named as one of Shazam's top 5 artists to watch in 2022.[1][7] She was featured in amplifyHER, an United Nations podcast.[8]
