Early life

Marshall attended high school at Tranby College.[4] During her university studies, Magenta spent a semester abroad studying at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and taught English at a local school.[5]

Career

Prior to her candidacy, Magenta worked briefly as a minor officer at the Transport Workers Union then worked four years as an electorate officer to David Michael MLA between 2017 and 2021.[6][7] After that, she worked one year as a campaign director at WA Labor.[8]

Rockingham preselection

After the surprise resignation of Mark McGowan, Magenta was preselected as the ALP's candidate for Rockingham. McGowan publicly endorsed Magenta as his successor and joined her campaign.[9] During the campaign it was reported that she had her drivers license suspended in 2021 due to a drink-driving incident.[10]

Personal life

She has lived in the Rockingham area her entire life and purchased her first home with her husband in Waikiki in 2020.[11][12] She is married to Jake Marshall, a teacher.[6]
