Makarand Narwekar

Makarand Narwekar (born 20 September 1978) is an Indian politician from Mumbai and belongs to Bharatiya Janata Party. Makarand is a municipal councillor for ward 227[2][3] in Mumbai, Maharashtra.[4][5][6] Makarand is a second-term Municipal Councillor for Colaba. Makarand has been elected twice to hold the position of Municipal Councillor for Colaba.[7] Makarand is also a member of the My Dream Colaba NGO.[8]

Early life and education

Makarand Narwekar was born on September 20, 1978,[9] in Colaba, Mumbai to Suresh Narwekar, a Municipal Councillor from the Colaba area. Makarand's brother, Rahul Narwekar, is also a politician and currently serves as the Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.[10]

Makarand Narwekar holds a law degree from Government Law College and a bachelor's degree in commerce from Sydenham College.[11]

Makarand is also a lawyer in the Bombay High Court.[12][13]

Political career

Makarand Nawekar made his first foray into politics in 2012 when he was elected as a municipal councillor as an independent candidate.[14][15]

In 2017, Makarand joined Bharatiya Janata Party[16] and got elected as municipal councillor for the second time from Colaba.[17]
